Installation and Upgrade Notes

Read this before installing or upgrading to Version 5.2.2, 5.2.1, or 5.2.0.

Before installing or upgrading to Version 5.2.2, 5.2.1, or 5.2.0, read the following sections.

NOTE: The latest version of the MapR Converged Data Platform is Version 5.2.2. Install or upgrade to the latest version unless you have a specific reason not to do so.

Using the MapR Installer

When you use the MapR Installer to install 5.2.x or upgrade to 5.2.x, you will select a MapR Expansion Pack (MEP) before you select the ecosystem components that you want to install or upgrade.

When you install 5.2.x, you have the option to install MapR Monitoring. After you upgrade to 5.2.x, you can use the incremental install option to install MapR Monitoring.

MapR 4.1, 5.0. and 5.1 clusters that were installed using the MapR Installer can use the MapR Installer to upgrade to version 5.2.x.

Rolling Upgrades

Rolling upgrades are supported from all 4.x/5.x versions to Version 5.2.x.

MapR Client Compatibility

In general, Version 4.x and 5.x MapR clients will continue to work against a cluster that is upgraded to Version 5.2.x.
NOTE: The RM HA configuration on the client must match the configuration on the cluster. For example, zero-configuration RM HA was not supported in Version 4.0.1 so a Version 4.0.1 YARN client will not work with a Version 5.1.0 RM HA cluster.

MapR Interoperability Matrix

See the Interoperability Matrix pages for detailed information about MapR server, JDK, client, and ecosystem compatibility.
